Sage Bhrigu curses God of Fire and Chyavana gets Birth
Outstanding sage Bhrigu was the son of Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma created him out of the yajna or havan hearth which was completed by way
of lord Varuna once. Bhrigu was one of the seven extraordinary sages referred to
as, Saptarishis. He married Puloma, who used to be ravishing, courteous, and
devoted to her husband's path.
One day Bhrigu went to take a bath in the early morning. At that time his spouse Puloma was pregnant with his child. A demon named Puloman too came to Bhrigu's hermitage and observed the sage's spouse there. Out of
hospitality, she welcomed the demon and presented him with a few fruits. Bowled
over by her beauty, the demon determined to abduct her. Then he remembered, in
his past, he had wished to marry Puloma once however she got married to
sage Bhrigu according to her father’s Vedic standards. The demon then wished
to confirm whether she was the same person whom he had chosen to wed before.
Then he saw the God of fire or Agni Dev or Agni was blazing within the agnihotra area; a place where offerings are made to Agni.
He requested the sparkling fire god, “Oh lord! you’re the face of all the gods. Inform me the truth, if the sage’s partner in the hermitage is the one whom I had wanted to marry before. Later her father married her off to sage Bhrigu and he took her away from me in a biased way.”
The demon again and again requested Agni that Puloma used to be mine however Sage had unfairly kidnapped her from me. Tell me Agni, if she’s the equal person I had desired earlier.

Agni was in a problem at that time. Neither he preferred to lie, nor needed to enrage sage, Bhrigu. However, he noted to the demon, “It’s true that she is the same individual you had wished to wed before however, you’ve now not married her. Her father desired her daughter to marry the exceptional sage Bhrigu in the presence of myself; the fire, Bhrigu made her, his spouse with ideal Vedic wedding ceremony rituals. That is the truth I know.” After getting the affirmation of the sage’s spouse, the demon Puloman without any second thought took the shape of Varaha; the boar, and forcibly tried to abduct her. At that time the child that, the sage’s spouse was carrying in her womb got out of it and he turned into a fiery truly like a solar god. Out of rage, he burnt the demon to ashes. Considering that he got out of his mom’s womb simply by himself, he was named ‘Chyavana’.
Whilst Bhrigu returned to his hermitage, he noticed his son Chyavana and his wife Puloma in such a situation. He became livid at that point and asked about the person who had disclosed his spouse’s identity. Puloma informed him about Agni. Out of wrath, indignant sage Bhrigu then cursed Agni,
“You’ll engulf the whole thing.”
