From the previous post, we all came to be aware that Satyavati and her brother Matsya were born to King Uparichara and a fish: who was an Apsara in actuality who was once cursed via Lord Brahma before. Later king raised only Matsya as his commander-in-chief and gave Satyavati to Fisherman Dasaraj due to the fact of her body smell. She was brought up in the hermitage of fishermen. In order to serve her father, Satyavati used to drive a boat to let the passengers cross away Yamuna River.

One day, sage Parashara; grandson of sage Vashistha during his pilgrimage reached close to the Yamuna and observed fascinating Satyavati there. She helped Sage cross the river on her boat. flattened by way of her beauty, he wished to get intimate with her and expressed his desire for Satyavati there. Satyavati initially denied it by means of announcing that plenty of sages were noticing both of them whilst standing near the Yamuna riverside. Sage Parashara straight away created fogs around both of them with his Ascetic power and made the surroundings darkish there.

Astonished Satyavati told the sage that she didn't wish to ruin her chastity. She could in no way go back to her father after doing such guilt. Hence she requested the sage to do the rightful. Sage certain her that she would continue to be a virgin even after getting intimate with him. Therefore he advised Satyavati to ask him for a boon. Satyavati wished for letting go of her body smell. The sage granted her the boon. She had an extremely good heady scent on her body which could be smelled from a distance of one yojana for which she used to be named Gandhavati or Yojangandha or Matsyagandha. From the union of sage Parashara and Satyavati, Vyasa was born there. Satyavati's chastity remained like before. From birth, only Vyasa was left near the Yamuna Dvaip he was named Dvaipayana. He practised severe austerities and had promised Satyavati to show up in front of her only at the time of her need. Also, Vyasa used to be regarded as Veda Vyasa because of compiling the Vedas in the entire world after viewing the decreased age and stamina of human beings.

Later allured by the sweet scent of Satyavati, King Shantanu fell in love with her and made her his wife. Though Bhishma Being born first to Shantanu and Ganga deserved the throne of Hastinapur, Satyavati's first son Chitrangada was crowned as the king. Due to the fact that Dasaraj had denied giving his daughter's hand to Shantanu unless the king would enthrone only Satyavati's children as his heir, Bhishma sacrificed the throne for his father's marriage and practised celibacy throughout his life. Satyavati had another son named Vichitravirya from King Shantanu.
