PANDAVAS WERE FIVE INDRAS IN PREVIOUS BIRTH

Vyasa explains the previous birth of Pandavas and Draupadi

Draupadi chose Arjuna in her swayamvara however Kunti had asked all of the Pandavas to share her among each other as Alms. Drupada out of curiosity invited the Pandavas, Kunti, and his daughter to the kingdom and welcomed all of them there. Drupada came to understand their identification from Yudhishthira. He was happy that as per his desire Draupadi had chosen Arjuna only who had shot the fisheye as a disguised Brahmin in the swayamvara and also he consoled Yudhishthira related to supporting him to win back his kingdom.

Then Drupada asked Yudhishthira for the systematic Vedic marriage of Arjuna and Draupadi. Yudhishthira told him that all his brothers along with himself need to wed Draupadi too. Bhima being elder than Arjuna was also single at that time and a situation had also been set to share Draupadi amongst all of them.

Hence Yudhishthira asked for Drupada's permission to perform the marriage ceremony of Draupadi with all of them. That time Vyasa arrived there in the kingdom all of them respectfully offered their pranam to Vyasa. Drupada was at a loss for words about his daughter getting married to all five Pandavas. Yudhishthira elaborated that Kunti had considered Draupadi as alm and suggested distributing that amongst all his brothers. Hence the marriage had to be done. Also, Kunti did no longer wish her sentence to be a lie. Vyasa then spoke to Drupada privately related to Pandavas' preceding birth and later he was convinced and the marriage was done accordingly. Let me take you all to the detail.

Once Deities discussed with the creator of the Universe; Lord Brahma that they were scared of human beings getting immortal. There were no dissimilarities between each of them. Brahma instructed him that considering the fact that Yamraja was involved in a yajna no human beings were dying at that time. He assured them that after the completion of the yajna, he would determine the lifetime of the humans. All the Deities went to the yajna near the Ganga shore. They noticed a beautiful lotus floating on the water of Bhagirathi. Indra went to see the place it was coming from and observed a gorgeous lady crying there. Her teardrops were getting shaped like lotuses and floating on the water there. Indra asked her the cause of her crying. She led him to the amazing Himalayas top the place Indra could see a good-looking younger male with a female there. He was engrossed being amused with the lady. Furious Indra instructed him, " I own the whole universe and I am the god of the world "

Hearing such from Indra, he looked at him and made Indra's physique stunned like a wood. After getting done with his enjoyment with the lady, he asked that tremendous girl who had led Indra to bring him there. Then he touched Indra and his physique became normal again. He informed Indra not to show arrogancy like this again. Then he asked Indra to enter a cave that used to be there and noted that "lots of fierce Indras simply like You were staying inside that cave."

He was none other than Lord Shiva. Indra had humiliated him with his pride. Lord Shiva asked Indra to stay there in the cave. Indra saw four other Indras inside the cave and got depressed. They had also done the same mistake earlier. So Lord Rudra determined to send all five of them to be born as people on the earth and later to attain Heaven by their efforts and precise deeds.

The first four Indras noted to him, " We wish to be born from Dharma, Windgod, Two Asvinis. So that we can bravely defeat people with all our divine weapons and attain Indraloka again." Then Indra told Mahadeva, "Lord! I wish to have an infant of my own who would be the fifth Indra."

Lord Shiva blessed them and also let the gorgeous lady; who was Laxmi in heaven, be born as their wife in the human world. 

Likewise, Pandavas were born who were captured in that cave as the four Indras. And the child who was born from Indra was none other than fierce Arjuna. The lady was born Draupadi. Then Vyasa provided divine sight to Drupada who could see all the Pandavas and Draupadi in their real form.

Later Vyasa also mentioned to him Draupadi's boon (The previous birth of Draupadi) which I explained in my last post, where she was blessed by Lord Shiva to get five husbands.

Then Drupada gladly with all Vedic rituals married Draupadi off to one by one all the Pandavas.
